Dr. Press pivots 45 degrees left and 5 degrees right.
Dr. Press also pivots 20 degrees back for drilling the holes for the legs of half log benches.
Dr. Press has a 4 ¾" spindle travel.
Includes a Dake drill head, 2 HP and 120 volt.
All welded fabrication of 2" x 2" 3/16" wall tubing for the top and feet. The legs are 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" 3/16" wall tubing. There are also two shelves of 2" x 2" x 1/4" angle iron. The massive strength of the base unit (32" deep x 36" high x 48" long) gives absolute rigidity when drilling a 2 9/16" diameter hole at 42 degrees. But you must also keep the drill bit very sharp.
Two self adhesive measuring tapes are also included, one right hand and one left hand.
One set of drill blocks are included with 2 9/16" diameter holes.
One magnet base protractor is also included.
One 20' long, 14" wide, 1 3/4" thick microlam top and 4" x 4" x 1/4" aluminum backstop are not included.
So, what is it that makes Dr Press so special?
Dr Press has been designed and built to work with center line design.
The pivot point of the drill head is 5 1/2" above the microlam top.
The workpiece is held in "blocks" keeping the center of the workpiece 5 1/2" above the microlam top.
The right hand and left hand tape measures stay at 0 center, stuck to the 4" x 4" x 1/4" aluminum backstop.
When you change the angle of the drill head, you do not have to change the placement of the tape measures.
The drill line of travel will exactly bisect the 0 center of the tape measures at 5 1/2" above the microlam top at any angle setting.
In the log handrail pictures on the left, each project was measured using center line design, machined in the shop useing center line design and brought back to the jobsite and installed. Each one fit perfect the first time, and perfect is good enough.
